Euan Williams crossed for four tries as Lincoln Imps XV completed a league double over Long Eaton with a 78-10 victory at Longdales Park.
Luke Brodrick and Tom Dowdy grabbed two tries apiece, while Euan Kelly, Matt Walker, Kodi Strand, Michael Tunnicliffe and Rob O’Donoghue also got their names on the scoresheet. Brodrick and Kelly added the conversions.
Lincoln won December’s reverse fixture in Derbyshire 54-0 and once again they proved too hot to handle for their opponents.
However, Long Eaton refused to give up and battled hard for the full 80 minutes despite only having 14 players.
Lincoln opened the scoring inside five minutes when an overlap out wide saw Jack Miles offload for Strand to run in for a try.
Long Eaton levelled the score when Colin Carr saw space at the bottom of the breakdown. The Number Eight then offloaded to Connor Batchelor who sidestepped his man and ran in for a try.
Lincoln moved back in front when Kelly broke the line before offloading to Brodrick on the 22, who beat the full-back to run in for a try. Kelly added the extras.
Kelly slotted over a penalty to increase Lincoln’s lead to 10 points.
The hosts were in confident mood and added a further five tries before the break. A cross-field kick from Kelly was picked up by Tunnicliffe, who ran 50 metres to score a great try.
Walker then went on a blazing run down the wing before stepping the full-back to go over for a try, which Kelly converted.
Brodrick was next to score as he exchanged passes with Williams before running 40 metres for a try.
Provider then turned scorer as a backs move released Williams, who broke through two defenders to go over for a try. Kelly added the extras.
O’Donoghue drove through three defenders before powering over for a try to give Lincoln a commanding 44-5 lead at half-time.
Lincoln lost Zeph Chapman to the sin bin after he was shown a yellow card for an offside offence. Long Eaton took advantage as a forward maul set up Jack Cambridge, who came in on an angle at pace to go over for a try.
Kelly broke through the middle to go over for a try, which he also converted, as Lincoln regained control of the match.
Dowdy handed off one and ran round another to go over for a try as Lincoln continued to pile on the pressure in attack.
A long pass from Brodrick went over two players to set up Williams to go over for his second try of the match.
A break by Kelly put Lincoln two on one before he offloaded to Williams, who ran in to complete his hat-trick. Brodrick added the extras.
Lincoln picked up the ball from a ruck a few metres out before Chapman offloaded for Dowdy to go over for a try to put the hosts over the 70-point mark.
After the match Lincoln Imps XV captain James Johnson said: “It was good to win the double in the league against Long Eaton.
“From the first to the last minute we were in complete control with some excellent offloads aided by great support lines, which led to a lot of brilliant team and individual tries.
“Every player out there put their hand up and put in a shift to make the game comfortable.
“We now have two more games left this season and I would like to carry our great 2019 form into the final few games of the season and get two more wins.
“I would just like to give a mention for Euan Williams who managed to pick himself up four tries.”
