LINCOLN 3RD XV 33
OLLERTON HOODS 7
NLD MERIT LEAGUE NORTH EAST
Max Cartwright grabbed a brace of tries as Lincoln’s 3rd XV made it back-to-back league victories with a convincing 33-7 home win against Ollerton.
Eren Hamilton, Harry Money and Chris Smith also scored tries for Lincoln.
Lincoln’s remaining points came via the boot of Ryan Tinsley who successfully slotted over four conversions.
Lincoln fell behind early on when quick passing put the Ollerton full-back under the posts for a converted try.
The hosts soon levelled matters when Cartwright made a great break from halfway before popping it out to Hamilton, who ran in for a try in the corner. Tinsley added the extras.
After a penalty on the five-metre line, the ball went through the hands to Money, who ran in for try, which Tinsley converted to give Lincoln a narrow 14-7 lead at half-time.
Lincoln increased their lead when Kodi Strand caught a kick and took the ball into the Ollerton half, before evading a few tackles and offloading to Jak Harvey.
Harvey then kicked the ball for Cartwright to chase and the youngster picked it up about a metre out before going over for a try. Tinsley once again added the extras.
Lincoln’s powerful Tongan forward Laguna ‘Pita’ Fisiihoi then carried the ball forward from a penalty inside the 22 before being held up just short of the try line. A good brotherly connection soon followed as Aron Smith recycled the ball before Chris Smith picked it up to go over for a try, which Tinsley converted.
Lincoln weren’t done yet and, after a ruck on their own 10-metre line, Paul Swaby passed the ball to Fisiihoi, who was putting in a solid shift at inside centre. Fisiihoi carried the ball forward and, just before contact, he passed it to Cartwright, who ran down the wing, and onto his own chipped kick to cross for a great try and complete the scoring.
