Lincoln Ladies’ 2nd XV continued their determined development as they joined forces with Gainsborough Ladies for an Inner Warrior Series tournament at Grimsby.
Before the matches Southwell stood shoulder to shoulder with Lincoln, Gainsborough, Grimsby and Market Rasen in a united show of support and remembrance in memory of Southwell men’s player Jacob Hardwick, who sadly passed away recently. Together they observed a minute’s silence before kick-off and no player wore the number two shirt in honour of his memory.
Lincoln played two 40-minute matches against Grimsby/Market Rasen and Southwell, which ended in battling 12-7 and 15-5 defeats respectively.
Lincoln Ladies’ 2nd XV showed great determination and grit in defence and when they worked together using the forward pods, and then onto the backs, it was a joy to watch. All of the Lincoln players worked hard together and supported one another.
The tries were scored by Hannah Pearson, her first ever, and Lily Lamplugh, and both came from good teamwork, offloading and support play. Lucie Hutchinson and Hayley Wilson played in their first ever game and very much enjoyed themselves.
The team has developed really well from the first tournament and continues to work hard together.
Lincoln Ladies’ 2nd XV coach Hev Lamming said: “The players are playing well together and encouraging each other at every turn. We are very proud of them.”
