Lincoln Rugby Club

We’re an LGBTQ+ touch rugby team open to everyone aged 18 and over; including lesbian, gay, bi, trans, non-binary, queer, and straight players. Allies are welcome too, as long as they respect their teammates and actively support the community.

We recognise that many LGBT+ people have had a complicated relationship with sport. That’s why we go above and beyond to create a safe, welcoming, and joyful space where everyone can thrive. Whether you're brand new to rugby or a seasoned player, we want you to show up as your authentic self, and feel celebrated for it.

We’re proud members of International Gay Rugby (IGR), a global network of inclusive rugby clubs. We compete in the IGR Touch Northern Development Series throughout the summer, and take part in other tournaments like Touch My Brum in Birmingham (July) and the Hadrian’s Cup in Newcastle (March).

Touch rugby is a fast-paced, non-contact version of traditional rugby, where teams attempt to score by carrying the ball over the opposition's try line. Players must "touch" their opponents with the ball to stop their progress, instead of tackling them. The game is played with six players on each team, and it emphasizes speed, agility, and teamwork. It’s ideal for players of all fitness levels, as it’s less physically demanding than full-contact rugby but still requires strategy and quick decision-making.

Training takes place every Thursday from 7:00–8:30pm at Lincoln Rugby Club, and newcomers are always welcome to join us.
